California Prop 65

California’s “Proposition 65” law requires companies conducting business in California to provide a “clear and reasonable” warning before knowingly and intentionally exposing anyone to one of more than 900 chemicals. For more information, please visit https://www.p65warnings.ca.gov/. It is your responsibility to ensure any required warnings are provided on your retail website or in your catalog. WARNING FORMAT:

Per 27 CCR 25603(a), the long form warning must meet the following criteria:

 WARNING: [Warning Message]

  • A symbol consisting of a black exclamation point in a yellow equilateral triangle with a bold black outline. The symbol shall be placed to the left of the text of the warning, in a size no smaller than the height of the word “WARNING”.
  • The word “WARNING:” in all capital letters and bold print
  • The provided text in the table below is for the warning message.
  • Example:
  • WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including lead, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information go to https://www.p65warnings.ca.gov

WARNING LOCATION:

Per 27 CCR 25602, warnings must meet the following criteria:

  • For internet purchases, the warning must be on the product display page or by otherwise prominently displaying the warning to the purchaser prior to completing the purchase.
  • For catalog purchases, the warning must be provided in the catalog in a manner that clearly associates it with the item being purchased.
