Federal’s Polar Plunge Team SHOCKWAVE took the plunge again on February 24 for its 13th year.
The Anoka County Polar Plunge began in 2012. Team SHOCKWAVE had a humble beginning with only two plungers, Dennis Angell (Federal retiree, Shockwave captain) and his son John. The team has grown, reaching 56 plungers this year. Employees, friends and family gathered to shatter last year’s record of 29 plungers. This year’s team raised $12,580 for the Special Olympics!
SHOCKWAVE was the second largest team at this event, and we are the 18th largest out of 1,881 Special Olympic polar plunge teams in the state. Federal has supported this annual event since 2012. In that time, 105 members have completed 211 plunges, raising a total of $82,214.
On behalf of our MN Special Olympics, Thank You Federal, Federal employees, employee families and friends, and of course our pledgers! A special thank you to all first-time plungers.
